Large Scale

Textile Sculpture

Students collaborated in groups to build and embellish large scale textile sculptures. Based on combining imagery of human anatomy diagrams from students biology text books with visual information & materials collected from the woodland school grounds- creating abstract anatomical hybrids with the intention to install in a public space.  Students experimented with a range of found textiles such as ropes, nets, used fabrics, upholstery stuffing etc. The results are were strange yet familiar, grotesque yet beautiful.
